Responsibilities

As an Intermediate Civil Engineer in our water team, you will:

  • Design and deliver engineering solutions for water and wastewater treatment plants, reservoirs, pump stations, and conveyance pipelines.
  • Review design requirements and perform site investigations.
  • Conduct calculations, hydraulic and structural modelling.
  • Oversee drafting and documentation preparation, including reports and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, building strong relationships and understanding their core business needs.
  • Manage small to medium-sized engineering projects, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and client expectations.
  • Apply risk management principles and ensure compliance with Australian standards and WSAA codes.
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary, multi-office team environment.
  • Occasionally travel to project sites as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in water and wastewater treatment and/or conveyance design.
  • Prior experience working with water utilities or public water authorities is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of safety in design, constructability, and operational best practices.
  • Familiarity with Australian standards and Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) codes.
  • Proven ability to identify and manage project and design-related risks.
  • Commitment to HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality) systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
