Key Responsibilities

As a Daycare Teacher, your duties will include:

  • Bathing, diapering, and feeding infants and toddlers
  • Developing and implementing child-care programs that support early childhood development
  • Leading educational and recreational activities such as storytelling, music, arts, and crafts
  • Encouraging creativity through dramatic play, physical activity, and artistic expression
  • Guiding children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toileting habits
  • Observing children for developmental or behavioural concerns and preparing reports
  • Communicating children’s progress with parents, guardians, and supervisors
  • Establishing and maintaining appropriate behaviour guidelines
  • Participating in staff meetings and collaborating with co-workers and community partners
  • Planning and maintaining a safe, healthy, and secure childcare environment
  • Organizing before- and after-school programs for school-age children, when required

Experience & Specialization

To qualify for the job please ensure you can fulfil the following

Required Experience

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a daycare or early childhood setting

Education

  • College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma (1–2 year program)

Certifications

  • Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Food allergy and anaphylaxis training

Area of Specialization

  • Infant and toddler care (3 months to 11 months)
  • Early childhood education programs
  • Child development and behaviour support

Work Conditions & Physical Capabilities

This role requires:

  • Physically demanding tasks
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Bending, crouching, and kneeling
