What does a Hedge Pruner / Gardener do?
At Garden and Tree Men, our Hedge Pruners and Gardeners play a key role in maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces across Christchurch. This is an on-site, full-time role for someone with experience in hedge trimming and general garden maintenance. If you enjoy outdoor work, leading a small team, and making gardens look their best, this role is for you.
We’re looking for a motivated and skilled individual who can take the lead on jobs and bring a strong work ethic to every task — from detailed hedge shaping to tough garden cleanups.

JOB DESCRIPTION
As an Experienced Hedge Pruner / Gardener, your responsibilities will include:
- Trimming hedges and performing general gardening duties
- Leading a small team on garden maintenance jobs
- Operating and maintaining equipment safely
- Driving and backing trailers to and from job sites
- Ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard
- Assisting with lawn mowing, weeding, and green waste removal

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
We’re looking for candidates who:
- Have proven experience in hedge trimming and gardening
- Hold a valid Class 1 Full NZ Driver’s License
- Can confidently back a trailer
- Are physically fit and willing to take on tough, hands-on tasks
- Show leadership ability and a commitment to quality work
