Responsibilities

  • Carry out welding and metal fabrication work to support roofing and structural installations
  • Interpret engineering drawings, project plans, and measurements accurately
  • Select and operate appropriate welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and manual arc welding)
  • Cut, shape, fabricate, and assemble metal components such as brackets, frames, and supports
  • Prepare metal surfaces using grinders and cutting tools before welding
  • Perform welding in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Inspect welded joints to ensure strength, durability, and quality standards
  • Maintain welding tools and equipment in safe working condition
  • Follow workplace health and safety policies at all times
  • Work both in workshop and on-site environments as required

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience, OR
  • A Level 4 or higher qualification in welding or a related field, OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
  • Strong commitment to health and safety practices
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand

Skills

  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • High attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive work attitude and strong motivation
  • Good time management and problem-solving skills
