Key Responsibilities
- Interpret welding process specifications and technical drawings
- Operate manual, semi-automatic, and fully automated welding equipment
- Examine and inspect welds to ensure they meet standards and specifications
- Operate manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting machinery
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) tools when required
- Operate brakes, shears, and metal shaping/straightening machines
- Fit, braze, and torch-straighten metal components
- Determine the weldability of various materials
- Operate hoisting and lifting equipment safely
- Operate pre-set welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts
- Maintain welding, brazing, and soldering equipment, including minor repairs
- Specialize in truck repair and heavy vehicle metalwork
- Follow all safety policies and procedures while working in dusty and noisy conditions
Requirements
- Education: College/CEGEP diploma required
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years in welding or metal fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret welding specifications
- Proficiency in operating manual and automated welding equipment
- Experience with CAD is an asset
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks and heavy materials
- Must be comfortable working in fast-paced and noisy environments
- Must pass a criminal record check
- Authorization to work in Canada
- Availability to begin work on the posted start date
