Responsibilities
As a Welder/Fabricator, your day-to-day duties will include:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Preparing, selecting, and cleaning metal stock for fabrication.
- Cutting and shaping metal components using hand tools, flame cutters, and metal cutting machines.
- Welding and assembling metal structures using various welding techniques.
- Erecting steel structures on-site, including working at heights from scaffolds and elevated work platforms.
- Aligning parts for accurate assembly using measuring tools and hand instruments.
- Inspecting welds for strength, precision, and compliance with standards.
- Cleaning, smoothing, and finishing welded components through filing, grinding, and polishing.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in welding and fabrication.
- Ability to work both in a workshop environment and on-site as needed.
- Flexibility to work weekends and occasionally outside Hawke’s Bay.
- Good understanding of health & safety practices, especially when working at heights.
- Full NZ work rights or appropriate visa status.
Skills
We’re looking for someone with:
- Strong welding skills in various techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, ARC).
- Excellent blueprint reading and metalworking skills.
- Good physical stamina and coordination.
- Attention to detail and high standards for quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
