Responsibilities
- Carry out welding and metal fabrication work to support roofing and structural installations
- Interpret engineering drawings, project plans, and measurements accurately
- Select and operate appropriate welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and manual arc welding)
- Cut, shape, fabricate, and assemble metal components such as brackets, frames, and supports
- Prepare metal surfaces using grinders and cutting tools before welding
- Perform welding in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
- Inspect welded joints to ensure strength, durability, and quality standards
- Maintain welding tools and equipment in safe working condition
- Follow workplace health and safety policies at all times
- Work both in workshop and on-site environments as required
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience, OR
- A Level 4 or higher qualification in welding or a related field, OR
- A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Legal right to work in New Zealand
Skills
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding techniques
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings
