Key Responsibilities
- Sweep, scrub, mop, and vacuum floors in assigned areas.
- Dry/wet mop and polish hard surface floors using handheld or automatic scrubbers.
- Strip and finish hard surface flooring using manual or power equipment as required.
- Steam clean or shampoo carpets when necessary.
- Collect and transport garbage to designated bins or compactors.
- Move maintenance machinery between floors and job sites when needed.
- Clean, maintain, and store cleaning equipment and tools properly.
- Clean glass surfaces using ladders or extension equipment.
- Clean washrooms, stairwells, and elevator cabs, including stripping and refinishing floors.
- Load, unload, and restock cleaning supplies and solutions.
- Follow safety procedures for chemicals and power equipment.
- Report major repair needs or maintenance issues to supervisors.
- Remove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas when required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or maintenance, preferably in an institutional or commercial setting.
- Hands-on experience with floor maintenance machines, cleaning tools, and cleaning solutions.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy items and safely climb ladders.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and clients.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, varied shifts, and at different locations.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate manual or electronic records.
- Must meet security clearance requirements (if applicable).
- Valid Class G Licence may be required.
