KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Cook with EDO Japan, your main duties include:

  • Preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes according to EDO Japan’s standards
  • Determining portion sizes and estimating food requirements
  • Planning menus and assisting in daily food preparation
  • Maintaining inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment
  • Ensuring kitchen cleanliness, organization, and adherence to food safety regulations
  • Inspecting kitchens and food service areas for compliance with hygiene and safety standards
  • Training and supporting kitchen staff in food handling and preparation procedures

    EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT

    You’ll work with:

    • Commercial kitchen appliances and cooking utensils
    • Food preparation equipment (grills, fryers, knives, etc.)
    • Cleaning and sanitizing supplies
    • Refrigeration and storage units

    Work is on-site in a fast-paced, team-based restaurant environment.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Education:

    • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

    Experience:

    • 1 to less than 7 months of relevant cooking or kitchen experience

    Skills & Qualities:

    • Strong cooking and food preparation skills
    • Knowledge of portion control and food safety practices
    • Teamwork, communication, and multitasking abilities
    • Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail
    • Positive attitude and ability to work flexible shifts

    Licenses & Certifications (Preferred):

    • Food Safety or Handling Certification (an asset)

    Security & Safety:

    • Must be bondable
