ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic – Field Service Technician, you’ll diagnose, service, repair, and support high-end agricultural machinery across Waikato. You will work both in the workshop and out in the field, delivering breakdown support, pre-delivery assembly, and technical expertise to farmers and contractors who rely on CLAAS equipment to keep their operations running.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic – Field Service Technician, you will:
- Diagnose, repair, and service agricultural machinery including tractors, combines, foragers, and more.
- Provide on-site and in-field breakdown support.
- Pre-assemble and prepare new machinery for customer delivery.
- Support sales and customer operations by ensuring equipment reliability.
- Mentor apprentices and collaborate with the wider technician team.
- Maintain high safety standards and accurate service documentation.

EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT
You’ll work with:
- Diagnostic tools, laptops, and manufacturer-specific software
- Heavy machinery tools and service equipment

Work conditions include:

REQUIREMENTS
In order to qualify
Experience
- Certified Heavy Diesel Mechanic or equivalent qualification
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of diesel systems, hydraulics, and electrical diagnostics
- Ability to service, repair, and maintain complex machinery
- Agricultural machinery experience (preferred but not essential)
Professional Qualities
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and manage field tasks
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred
- Agricultural service experience
- Prior field service experience
- Ability to mentor apprentices
