ABOUT THE ROLE
School District 72 is hiring a full-time, permanent Carpenter to support maintenance, repairs, renovations, and construction projects across district facilities.
Carpenter – Permanent Position
You will join the district’s Operations team, performing a wide range of carpentry work on schools and institutional buildings, including interior and exterior construction, concrete work, envelope repairs, and ongoing maintenance projects. This role suits someone who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and committed to quality craftsmanship.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Depending on daily needs, duties may include:
- Performing all aspects of carpentry work for district buildings
- Interior and exterior construction, renovations, and repairs
- Concrete work, formwork, and building envelope maintenance
- Reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
- Coordinating work with other staff to support a team-based approach
- Using CMMS systems and email (Outlook) for work orders and communication
- Operating hand tools, power tools, and related carpentry equipment
- Assisting other trades and performing general maintenance tasks
- Responding to emergency maintenance situations when required
- Cleaning, storing, and maintaining tools and equipment
- Following safety procedures, PPE requirements, and district policies
- Performing other duties as assigned

EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT
You’ll work with:
- Carpentry tools, power tools, and construction equipment
- Ladders, scaffolding, and safety gear
- Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
- Standard PPE and safety tools
Work conditions include:
- Indoor and outdoor environments
- Work at heights, including ladders and scaffolds
- Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs
- Physical tasks such as bending, carrying, and prolonged standing
- Travel across district sites as required
REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for this job, you must possess the following:
Education & Experience
- Valid B.C. Trade Qualification and/or Interprovincial Carpenter TQ
- Minimum 2 years recent full-time equivalent journeyman experience
- Valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s licence
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to provide your own tools
- Physically capable of heavy lifting and maintenance tasks

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
