Key Responsibilities

As a Welder, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Interpret welding process specifications and technical instructions
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals and processes
  • Examine completed welds to ensure they meet required standards and specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate brakes, shears and other metal-shaping, straightening and bending machines
  • Fit and braze metal components and perform torch straightening
  • Determine the weldability of different materials
  • Operate hoisting and lifting equipment safely
  • Operate pre-set welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
  • Operate pre-set brazing or soldering machines to bond metal and fill holes, indentations and seams
  • Start, shut down, adjust and monitor robotic welding production lines
  • Maintain welding, brazing and soldering equipment
  • Perform minor repairs on welding and related machinery
  • Follow welding specifications and applicable quality requirements
  • Help ensure fabricated and repaired metal products meet the required standards
