Key Responsibilities
As a Welder, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Interpret welding process specifications and technical instructions
- Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals and processes
- Examine completed welds to ensure they meet required standards and specifications
- Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Operate brakes, shears and other metal-shaping, straightening and bending machines
- Fit and braze metal components and perform torch straightening
- Determine the weldability of different materials
- Operate hoisting and lifting equipment safely
- Operate pre-set welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
- Operate pre-set brazing or soldering machines to bond metal and fill holes, indentations and seams
- Start, shut down, adjust and monitor robotic welding production lines
- Maintain welding, brazing and soldering equipment
- Perform minor repairs on welding and related machinery
- Follow welding specifications and applicable quality requirements
- Help ensure fabricated and repaired metal products meet the required standards
