Key Responsibilities
- Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Select, clean, and prepare metal materials for fabrication and assembly.
- Cut metal sections using hand tools, flame-cutting torches, or metal-cutting machines.
- Shape, bend, and form metal components using machinery, heating, or manual tools.
- Align and assemble components with precision using measuring tools and fixtures.
- Weld, bolt, or rivet parts to complete assemblies according to technical standards.
- Inspect and test welds for correct bead width, penetration, and structural accuracy.
- Finish fabricated items by cleaning, grinding, polishing, or applying surface treatments.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with company policies.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of proven experience in metal fabrication and welding.
- Trade certification or equivalent qualification (preferred).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in MIG/TIG welding and use of fabrication tools.
- Physically fit, reliable, and safety-conscious.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends when required.
- Must have no criminal record and be able to pass a drug test.
- Legal right to work in New Zealand is mandatory.
